Considering the tradition surrounding Blue Devils football, that is a massive question. But what happened in the final seconds against Royal Palm Beach deserves to be part of the conversation.

Down four points with just 10 seconds remaining, Pahokee needed more than a good play. The Blue Devils needed a miracle. And they got one.

Think of the song “God Did” by DJ Khaled The song also celebrates overcoming adversity and reaching success. Pahokee frames this amazing play as something bigger than proving critics wrong—they gives the credit to God.

With the game hanging in the balance, Pahokee reached deep into the playbook. The Blue Devils started with a double pass off a bubble screen, sending the football downfield in what essentially became a Hail Mary.

Then came the moment nobody in attendance will soon forget. The ball went up.

Davis went up and got it. Davis climbed over two Royal Palm Beach defenders and somehow came down with the jump ball. But the play wasn’t finished. He broke two tackles, escaped the defense and sprinted approximately 40 more yards into the end zone. Touchdown.

Game over. Miracle complete.

“It was nothing but God” For Uzarus Boswell, who delivered the pass, the moment came down to faith and believing until the clock reached zero.

“When I made that throw, it was nothing but God because I believe. The game is not over until it is 0:00.”

Pahokee head coach Carlos Lammons has experienced some huge football moments during his career, including college bowl games and consecutive high school state championship games. Still, even he struggled to compare those experiences to what he had just witnessed.

After the game, he states, “I’ve never been in a play like that with that type of magnitude.” Lammons watched Davis turn what already would have been a spectacular catch into one of the most memorable finishes imaginable.

After making the biggest play of the night, Davis was nearly speechless. His first response said everything “All glory to God.” Once the emotions settled, Davis credited his quarterback while also recognizing the responsibility he carries as one of Pahokee’s leaders.

For his incredible game-winning touchdown, Corian Davis is our Player of the Game. It was not simply the catch. It was the moment. Ten seconds remaining. His team trailing. Two defenders surrounding him. A season-defining play hanging in the air. Davis made it.

The dramatic victory also provided another example of why Lammons believes in Pahokee’s two -quarterback system. “That’s a great reason for having a two-quarterback system.”

Eighth-grade quarterback Braylon Peterson also continues to make his presence felt when his opportunity comes. “I just showed up and showed them what I can do,” Peterson said.

The Blue Devils now have something else developing early in the season: a reputation for refusing to quit.

According to Lamons, Pahokee’s first three games have all come down to the final drive. That has allowed him to learn something important about his team. They are resilient. “We are a way better team than what we’ve been showing. We come out strong, then we relax and pile up stupid penalties. We will clean that up, though. But I know that I have a resilient team. The first three games of the season came down to the last drive of the game.”

Those mistakes will have to be corrected as the season progresses, but winning close games can build something that is difficult to teach: belief.

Pahokee had every reason to believe the game was over Friday night.
